La Grange I.S.D. recognized graduating seniors in the top 12 percent of the class at the annual Academic Recognition Banquet last Wednesday, April 26.
The banquet took place at Casino Hall in La Grange. Hannah Bellue, a 2011 graduate of La Grange High School, was the keynote speaker. Bellue attended Texas A&M University and later Texas A&M School of Law. Bellue now practices law and is a partner at the law offices of Schovajsa, Mayer and Klesel LLP in La Grange. She spoke about the challenges and rewards that came with her education. She encouraged the students to think of their life journey as akin to writing a story. Every story, she said, has a main character with a background, they go on a quest, they face antagonists and risks, and then they take part in some sort of transformation.
Each of the students selected a teacher who inspired them the most in school. Fayette County Attorney and District Attorney Peggy Supak served as the master of ceremonies. She introduced the honorees and the teachers that each student selected.
