Three Jailed For Various Weapon, Drug Charges
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports three arrests over the weekend for various weapons and drug charges.
On Sunday, Feb. 5, around 12:30 a.m. Deputy Seth Nagel stopped a vehicle in the Plum area for a traffic violation. Upon investigation, a probable cause search was conducted which yielded several packages that were labeled as THC infused, as well as marijuana. Two handguns were also located, one of which was reported stolen out of Austin. Wiljy Salomon, 20-years-old of Austin, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. David Rivera, 21 years of age of Austin, was arrested for possessing the stolen firearm.
On Feb. 5, around 9:45 p.m. Deputy Nagel conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Carmine area for a traffic violation. During the roadside investigation, Deputy Nagel observed a handgun inside of the vehicle. It was learned that the driver was a convicted felon. Christopher Portugal, 36 years of age of Austin, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Deputy Holly Smith assisted on the scene.
On Feb. 6, around 2:45 a.m. Deputy Nagel received a call from dispatch regarding a suspicious vehicle with its lights on, in front of the La Grange Church of Christ. Upon contact with the vehicle, the driver was discovered to be asleep behind the wheel. The driver was awakened and after speaking with Deputy Nagel, the driver advised that there was methamphetamine in the vehicle, which was later located. Arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance was 45-year-old Tracy Caldwell of Bullard.
