Three Arrested on Drug and Weapons Charges After Traffic Stops Here

On Wednesday, June 22 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 green Ford Freestyle in the Schulenburg area. After further investigation, Meagher located methamphetamine which was concealed inside the driver’s under garments. The driver, identified as Karla Stevens, 44 of Schulenburg, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Shortly after midnight at 12:05 a.m. Deputy Orlando Buitron stopped a 2009 red Mercedes C300 in the Ellinger Area. The driver was found to be in possession of cocaine along with several firearms including two handguns, an AK-47 style rifle and a shotgun.

The driver, identified as Joe Rodriguez III, 38 of Austin, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Then at approximately 12:58 a.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a 2019 silver Chevrolet Impala in the Engle area. Meagher located a Springfield 9mm handgun concealed underneath the front passenger seat.

A check of the weapons serial number showed the gun to be stolen out of Clarke County, Mississippi. The passenger was identified as Brandon Jones, 27 of Bay Springs, Mississippi was arrested and charged with Theft of a Firearm.
