Thompson Chosen at Lone City Manager Finalist in La Grange
The La Grange City Council picked Jack Thompson as a lone finalist for the City Manager job Monday night.
The Council met in a closed-door session that lasted from 2 p.m. through well into the evening Monday to interview the four final candidates for the position. Following the interviews, the Council offered the job to Thompson, who currently serves as an assistant city manager in Crowley, a suburb of Fort Worth.
The Council will now begin contract negotiations with Thompson. A questionnaire that each of the candidates filled out stated that the salary range for the position would be $150,000 to $185,000 annually.
Thompson has served as assistant city manager in Crowley since 2017. Before that, according to his resume, Thompson led a company called Orasi Development that built public-private partnerships such as Tax Increment Financing Districts and Public Improvement Districts for cities across Texas. He’s a 1992 graduate of Texas Christian University. He earned an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2009.
