Texas Ramp Project Completed 34 Ramps in 2025 With More On The Way
The Texas Ramp Project (TRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free wheelchair ramps to lowincome older adults and people with disabilities identified by local health care providers and social workers. Ramps are built exclusively with volunteer labor, keeping costs to a minimum. Ramps are built without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, age, or gender.
In 2025, the Fayette County TRP volunteers built 34 ramps. The total length of these ramps was 1,020 feet. The average ramp was 30 feet in length. The total cost of materials (treated lumber and hardware) for these 34 ramps was $35,700. The average ramp cost was $1,050. These ramps were built in Ellinger, Engle, Fayetteville (3), Flatonia (4), Halsted, La Grange (12), Plum, Round Top, Schulenburg (7), Walhalla, West Point, and Winedale.
All 2025 ramps were built by one or more of the following Fayette County volunteers: Ronny Beard, Matthew Becktol, Ted Bell, Roy Bolton, Paul Brodsgaard, Tony Brom, Steve Cameron, Richard Copeland, Rich Franks, Randy Gardiner, Larry Grigsby, Orvel Hill, Bill Koenig, John D. Marburger, Kenny Renke, Frank Smith, Caleb Teas, Dan Teas, Milam Teas, Norman Wied, and Ricky Woods. Warehouse space was provided by Dan Teas.
