Fayette County Commissioners signed a proclamation designating the week of April 9-15 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Fayette County. Fayette County Commissioners signed a proclamation designating the week of April 9-15 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Fayette County.

Several of Fayette County’s 911 dispatchers were on-hand for the signing, which took place at the Commissioners Court meeting on March 24.

“We handle all of the 911 calls for the County, and it is a very stressful job,” said Fayette County Communications Supervisor Kim Haba.

absolutely no clue where to go. Whenever you have a major scene, a major accident, they’re talking to who knows how many different agencies. All these people are in their ear, and they have to keep everything straight. Without them, all of us would be lost.”

“Until you go sit down in that room, you have no clue how stressful and hard it is,” he added. “I take my hat off to them. They do a wonderful job.”

Pct. 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann praised the work of the 911 dispatchers. Brossmann also serves as an Assistant Fire Chief for the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department.

“Whenever you call 911, people think about the Sheriff’s Office, or EMS, or the Fire Department, but these people are the first line,” Brossmann said. “When you call, this is who you talk to. And they relay the message to all of us. Without them, we’d have
