La Grange Police cited a pair of teens for shooting fireworks out of a vehicle in town Sunday night, July 5.

According to La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, Fayette County 911 dispatchers sent out a call around 10:45 p.m. informing Sheriff’s deputies and La Grange Police about people shooting fireworks from a vehicle.

Dispatchers said the vehicle was seen driving down Country Club Rd. toward La Grange.

Shortly thereafter, another call came in reporting fireworks discharging from a vehicle on Franklin St.

La Grange Police Sgt. Mitchell Maxwell spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Guadalupe and Horton St. Gilbreath said Maxwell witnessed fireworks being discharged and stopped the vehicle. Gilbreath said Maxwell issued citations to both of the teens for discharging fireworks from a motor vehicle, which is a Class C Misdemeanor. Maxwell confiscated the fireworks and released the teens.

Gilbreath said the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also filed charges of disorderly conduct against the teens for their actions outside the City Limits.
