Subject Arrested for Possession, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday, March 21, around 1:20 a.m. Deputy Austin Moore was traveling eastbound on St. Hwy. 71 near Plum when he observed a white Toyota Camry traveling westbound at a high rate of speed near the location, and was checked with radar indicating excessive speed.

Deputy Moore conducted a traffic stop on the passenger vehicle. Upon interviewing the driver Moore detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and probable cause search was conducted.

Assisting at the stop was Deputy Chase Cedar. Moore located a zip lock bag full of marijuana, a Smith and Wesson 40 caliber handgun, several more small bags of THC marijuana, a mushroom bar and a THC edible candy bar.

Arrested was 23-year-old Moses Paul Alakayi Jr. of San Antonio, who was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
