Muldoon was blessed with rain this past week. Anywhere from just over an inch to over two inches fell, depending where under the cloud you happened to be. It was some much needed moisture and it all seems to have soaked in the parched ground and that same ground is looking for more. The grass and the weeds have all just shot up over night and the dust has been settled for the time being. The rain also dropped the temperatures back into the “cool” 90s in the afternoons.

The rain also brought some spotty strong winds. Limbs and even barn roofs were torn off. Strange strong wind where it hit and missed, leaving a mess in its wake. It tore up the tin roof of a hay barn and did not even bother the barn or house that was in close proximity.

Out and About

Recently Billy and Nancie Blair celebrated their daughter Heather Tillerson’s fiftieth birthday with a party. Nancie’s sister, Lu Ginapp and brother in law, Fred Ginapp brought her mom, Elaine Lang down for the occasion. They also had the baby, Cadence in for the day to help celebrate. Billy and Nancie’s grandson, Kelley Schick managed to slip in from Houston to join the family party.

Devon Boehnke and Dana and Darrell Kulak all enjoyed having company over the weekend. Devon’s middle daughter, April Pospisil along with her daughter and grandson Annie Zimmerhaunzel and Luke all came in to spend a little time in the country. They enjoyed riding around and Luke even got to fish while down.

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky took off recently to Austin to celebrate their granddaughter Olivia Williams’ fifth birthday. All the kids enjoyed a bounce house, water slide and water balloons. It was a perfect way to cool off on a hot day. They also got to enjoy snow cones and cake to top off the celebration.

Loses Mother

Ron Knott’s mother, Bettye Knotts Garner passed away in Bellaire, Texas early on Wednesday, June 29. Bettye was 94 years old and had been very active until late last year when she was diagnosed with advanced cancer. She was still living in her home with the aid of wonderful caregivers who helped daily with chores and personal care.

Bettye was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in downtown Houston and never missed a chance to witness to anyone she met. Her great sense of humor and hearty laugh made her a joy to be around. Bettye loved to laugh and rarely if ever missed her weekly bridge game. She also loved learning new things and in recent years learned to use a computer and even had Ron teach her how to use her new smart phone.

Bettye is survived by two children, five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren along with lots of other relations. She leaves a legacy of good and lots of joy to the world she left behind.

Arrangements for services are pending at the time of this writing.
