State, U.S. Races Included in Final Political Forum

The Fayette County Republican Party will hold its final political forum of the primary election season this Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Fayette County Ag Building, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange. The forum will take place from 1-4 p.m. Local party officials invited all of the candidates in the U.S. Congress race for District 10 and the State House race for District 85.

Fayette County Party Chair Deborah Frank reported that U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul said he will send a representative to participate in the forum on his behalf. Frank said McCaul’s opponent, Jared Lovelace, confirmed that he will attend in-person.

Frank reported that both of the candidates in the State House race, incumbent Stan Kitzman and challenger Tim Greeson, both said they would participate in the forum.

The two candidates for Fayette County Attorney, James Herbrich and Mark Elvig, will both speak at the forum, along with the two candidates for Fayette County Republican Party Chair, Deborah Frank and Michael Schlabach. At the last two forums in Schulenburg and Ellinger, the format was broken down into segments for each race. Each one began introductions from the candidates followed by a list of questions prepared by local party officials.

Candidates each had an opportunity to respond to the same questions. Organizers then collected and curated written questions from the audience, and some of those were posed to the candidates. The candidates were then given time for closing remarks. The Fayette County Record livestreamed the last two forums in Schulenburg and Ellinger on our Facebook page. Video recordings are also available on our YouTube Channel, located at https://www.youtube. com/@Fayettecountyrecord.

This Saturday we will once again livestream the La Grange forum on our Facebook page, located at https:// www.facebook.com/fcr.news.
