Spooky Story Program Friday at Monument Hill

Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill will host its 3rd annual spooky stories program on Friday, Oct. 27. Stories begin at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come early to watch the sunset from the Bluff, take in the fall weather, and enjoy BYO picnics. If weather and conditions allow, a campfire will be lit around sunset.

“Inspired by the history of Monument Hill, Kreische Brewery, and greater Fayette County, volunteers and staff have researched and developed a few frightening stories to share around the campfire,” says Assistant Sites Manger Gavin Miculka. A few of Friday night’s tales, such as La Llorona and the Goatman of the Bluff, have long been told in Texas and Fayette County. Newer tales share the eerie history behind the sites’ archeological artifacts. Others connect common tall tale tropes with beloved Fayette County locales including the County Courthouse, Dubina, County cotton gins, and the Kreische Brewery.

“While we hope our audience finds these stories entertaining—and possibly chilling, we also hope these stories inspire greater interest in the rich history and heritage of our community,” says Miculka.

Guests are encouraged to bring picnics, beverages, chairs or blanket, and flashlights. The sites’ regular admission fess apply to the spooky stories program: $4 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Children under 5 and Friends members are free.
