Speedy Sand Truck Flips in Town

An 18-wheeler hauling two large containers of sand rolled on its side in La Grange on Saturday, April 8.

According to La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, the wreck happened around 7:20 p.m.

Arnaldo Jose Bermudez-Silva, 32 of Louisiana, was driving a red 2015 Freightliner truck-tractor.

He was pulling a trailer loaded with two large containers of sand. Silva was heading west on SH 71 Business and attempted to turn onto FM 609. La Grange Police Officer Steven Haynie investigated the crash and estimated that the rig was traveling around 35-40 miles per hour when Silva tried negotiating the turn.

The rig rolled onto the passenger side and came to rest. Silva was not injured and no other vehicles were involved. Haynie issued Silva a citation for traveling at an unsafe speed.
