Schulenburg Police arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly killing his father on Saturday evening, June 24.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said that officers received a call around 9:09 p.m. Saturday reporting gunshots in the 200 block of Upton Ave. Upon arrival, officers saw two subjects exiting the house and immediately detained them.

The officers entered the home and found a man deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Brenek identified the deceased as 64-yearold Ricky Machicek of Schulenburg.

Schulenburg Police called for assistance from the Texas Rangers.

“After a thorough investigation and multiple interviews, Shane Machicek, 24 of Schulenburg, was arrested for First Degree Murder and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center for booking,” Brenek’s report said. The other subject was released. Shane Machicek is the son of Ricky Machicek. Brenek declined to comment on a motive at this time.
