SLM Bake Sale a Success, Pastor Kindsvatter Installation Set for June 2

St. John had a very successful morning at the bake sale on May 11. Thank you to everyone that donated in any way. There were tables filled with homemade goodies and delicious hot dogs were served. They hope everyone found something appetizing for their Mother’s Day celebrations and hope to see all next year.

Pastor Jen’s installation will be on Sunday, June 2, in Rutersville. Service will be at 4 p.m. and meal to follow. Come welcome Pastor Jen to SLM.

Ladies of every age are invited to a special Tea Party and Brunch at St. John in Rutersville on June 22, more details to come.

SLM VBS will be in Rutersville the week of July 22. This day camp will be led by Lutherhill staff. More details to come. There will not be a monthly Sunday school for the months of June, July and August.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at Noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Brethren Church 

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

Central Texas Food Bank 

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Wal-deck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, May 18 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be a walk up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the recipients make their selections. Every recipient needs to bring their own sturdy, clean reusable bags, boxes or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB. **When recipients are registering, please vote if you want to continue the walk up method or prefer to convert to a drive through method. The next date will be June 15.

Hermann Sons Life 

Kyle Hartmann, a sales agent for Hermann Sons Life was presented a certificate for being the runner up for the Leroy Muehlstein Fraternallist of the Year Award at the Hermann Sons meeting at the Rutersville Lodge. He was also presented a $500 gift certificate for being the top producing agent for the first quarter of 2024. The presentation was made by Vice President of Sales Teresa Saathoff.

Tomato Festival 

The annual Tomato Festival will be starting on Friday, May 24 with the cook off and entertainment by Broken G Karaoke from 8:30-11:30 p.m. On Saturday the cookoff will continue and music will be provided by The Bandits. There will be a live and silent auction and the Chopped Challenge Showdown. Live auction will start at 7 p.m. Also on Saturday there will be a 5K fun run and tomato toss contest. Sunday will conclude with a fried chicken and sausage drive through meal starting at 10:30 am. Meal consists of buttered potatoes, green beans, and sauerkraut. Raffle ticket winners will be drawn on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased in Koehl’s in Ellinger or by texting (979) 966-8612. Interested in being a judge for the cookoff or any of the contests? Recycle Trailer 

The Fayette County recycle trailer will be on the chamber grounds on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 29.

Ellinger City Council 

The city council will meet on Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. in the chamber dining hall.

LGISD 

The last day of school will be Thursday, May 23.
