Skid Steer Looses A Track and Catches Fire
A state contractor burning brush on SH 71 just east of La Grange accidentally set a skid-steer loader on fire on Wednesday, June 14.
La Grange Volunteer Fire Department received the call around 7:12 p.m. La Grange FIre Chief Frank Menefee said a contractor working for the State of Texas was burning a brush pile at a yard across the highway from the Busy B boutique shop. The contractor was using a skid-steer loader to push brush onto the pile. Menefee said a track came off one side of the skid-steer, rendering it unable to move. The loader caught fire and started burning.
La Grange VFD responded with one engine, a grass truck and a tanker. Firefighters put out the flames but the loader suffered some damages.
