The Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Shrimp Boil on Friday, May 19 at the St. John Catholic Church pavilion in Fayetteville starting at 6:30 p.m. with complimentary keg beer until 7:30 p.m. The meal starts at 7:30. Free Piano Recital
Pianists Miles Gillette and Christie Pollard, students at Baylor University’s School of Music, will perform in concert on Saturday, May 20 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 205 S. Franklin St., La Grange. Their classical music repertoire runs the gamut from Schubert to Prokofiev. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.
There’s more “The Texas Czech Genealogical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit society, is hosting an estate sale to benefit their museum and library building fund on Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20 near Caldwell from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The sale includes kitchen and household items, quilts, linens, woodworking and carpentry tools, vintage farm implements, gardening tools, antique furniture, washer and dryer, solid wood bedroom suit, dining room, sofa, roll top desk and more. The sale will be located at 2034 CR 210, Caldwell, two miles off Hwy. 21 on CR 210, North of Caldwell. Look for the banner at County Road 210 and Hwy 21.
Slavnost Sunday, May 21
May Fest Slavnost will be held Sunday, May 21 at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center located at 250 W. Fairgrounds Road in La Grange. The Tribute to Czech immigrants ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. A chicken fried chicken dinner starts at 11:30 a.m. for $12 per plate. Music will be by the Donnie Wavra and Friends Orchestra. Enjoy the country store and pastry shop, classic car show and museum tours. Food and drinks are available all day.
Bingo For Seniors
The Ledbetter Community Center will host Bingo for seniors 60 and older on Sundays. Join on May 21 from 2-4 p.m. $5 per card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks available for free will donation.
Mt. Calvary Fundraiser
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church & Preschool annual Celebration will be held Sunday, May 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church BBQ Pavilion located at 800 N. Franklin in La Grange. Drive-thru barbecue beef briskest and sausage with German potatoes, green beans, pickle, and homemade bread will be served for $15. The Mary Martha Guild will also hold a bake sale. A raffle for $2,500, $1,000, $500, and 10 $100 gift cards will be held on Facebook Live at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 21. Southern Plainsmen Gospel Quartet in LG The very talented Southern Plainsmen Gospel Quartet, appointed as Louisiana’s Goodwill Ambassadors by Louisiana Governor Mike Foster in 1998, will be singing at First United Methodist Church, 1215 North Von Minden Road in La Grange, for the 9 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. services on Sunday, May 21. This non-profit ministry, supported by the contributions of its Christian friends, appears in churches throughout the U.S. Their primary goal, since May 1978, is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ via the medium of gospel music and Christian witness. You will hear light humor and fantastic music. A separate freewill-love-offering will be taken to help with their outreach to the Christian Community. CDA No. 1962 Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, May22, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6 p.m. for the annual May Social. A light meal will be served and the business meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Donations will be collected for A.M.E.N. Members are invited to attend. New members are always welcome.
St. Mark’s Power Hour
St. Mark’s Monthly Free Power Hour will be held Wednesday, May 24 from 2-3 p.m. Topic will be “What is Balance, and How Do We Maintain Good Balance?” Plus, learn and share about dealing with difficulties with daily activities, balance, memory or conditions such as Parkinson’s, stroke or amputation. Buddy Poppy Distribution
VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5254 will be distributing buddy poppies in the La Grange area for Memorial Day on Friday, May 26, which this year happens to be National Poppy Day. This not only raises funds to assist veterans, but also brings awareness of the sacrifices sevice members made for our freedom. Wear your poppy with pride.
Serbin Church Picnic May 28
Come meet your old friends and make new ones at the annual Serbin Picnic at the Serbin Picnic Grounds on FM 2239 on Sunday, May 28. The English Worship Service begins at 8:30 a.m. conducted by Pastor John Schmidt. Barbecue beef, pork, and chicken will be sold by the pound beginning at 9 a.m. The Ladies Aid will be selling potato salad, beans, noodles and pastries. The Ladies Aid will also be holding a bake sale. The Youth Leage hamburger stand will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Activities include the Shiner Clippers at Serbin baseball game at 2 p.m., School Children’s Program at 2 p.m., booths and games at 2 p.m., barrel train rides at 2:30 p.m., and washer pitching tournament at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment will be from 3 to 8 p.m. by the Czech Melody Masters. The Texas Wendish Heritage Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LG Summer Soccer Camp
The La Grange ISD Soccer Camp for boys and girls will take place June 19-21 at Leopard Stadium. Session 1: K-4th grade is from 5:30-7 p.m. Session 2: 5th-8th grade is from 7-8:30 p.m. Sessions and times may have to be adjusted depending on the number of campers. The camp is $50.
