Sheriff’s Office Warns Against Golf Cart Use at Antiques Fairs
The Round Top-Warrenton Antiques Fair is currently in full swing, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office wished to remind the public of Texas laws regarding golf carts and UTV’s.
Visitors to the Antiques Fair should be aware of the following:
• Texas law does not permit the use of golf carts and UTV’s at this event.
• State law provides an exception for places within two miles of a golf course, but there is no golf course within two miles of Round Top or Warrenton.
• Fayette County does not have an ordinance allowing these vehicles.
• The speed limits on Hwy. 237 where the Antiques Fair occurs are over 35 mph.
• There are no legal intersections in Warrenton to cross the roadway on a UTV or golf cart.
• It does not matter if you have a license plate on your golf cart, it is still illegal.
• You may not drive a golf cart or UTV in the highway right-of-way, which includes the ditch area of a roadway.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at (979) 968-5856.
