Shelter Has Increase In Animal Care

As of May 12, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 564: 300 dogs and 264 cats in need. That’s an increase of 113 dogs and cats over this same time frame in 2022. As of May 12, the shelter has 138 animals in care: 62 dogs/76 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Spay and neuter is the only way to manage the stray, unwanted dog and cat population in Fayette County. The shelter offers a discount voucher program for the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/neuter of family pets.
