Senior Connections Registers with the Council on Aging
By CINDY VILLARREAL Executive Director
Senior Connections is looking forward to seeing some new faces and has now registered with the Texas Council on Aging. So now, when anyone calls 211 looking for services, you can ask for the senior center in Schulenburg, and they will give you the phone number to Senior Connections. Upcoming Lunch & Learn Series include: Monday, Aug. 7, Dana Sherrill, from Twisted Steel Design, will inform members of the work her and her husband do in the communities. Her studio in Weimar has advertised so many different types of craft projects that turn into artful masterpieces.
Monday, Aug. 14, Amanda Brown, from Anytime Fitness in Schulenburg, will tell members about their Senior Fit program and how we can partner to provide some safe physical moves for members to do at Senior Connections.
Monday, Aug. 21, Schulenburg Justice of the Peace Paul Zapalac will join for lunch to tell members what happens in a typical week for a Justice of the Peace and how they add value to the community.
Monday, Aug. 28, Senior Connections will wind down the month with a feedback session with members. Plan to attend because hearing from members really helps with planning, especially planning day trips and outings.
Members take turns bringing desserts so we get a good sampling of the local favorites. Now with the temperatures soaring, Senior Connections is looking forward to enjoying some pasta salads, cold watermelon, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, cool ambrosia salads and Blue Bell ice cream to stay on the cool side.
