There is a lot of action going on at Senior Connections these days, and folks are letting us know all about it. The group that has formed while participating in the ARTSSchulenburg Studio “Artful Seniors” program has really bonded.

Group participants have expressed their pleasure at this experience. “Learning and doing something new has been exhilarating,” was said this past Friday. Art is being created where only a piece of plywood and so many colorful, loose tiles of many shapes were before.

There is more to come as the group moves into Phase II, which is a four-week course on drawing. The good news is that the group was increased from 12 to 15 participants, and the bad news is that two out of the three new spots are already filled, so this attests to the popularity of the program. Come by the Senior Connections Center and join for some great experiences.

Another group of Senior Connections members had a wonderful experience, as they attended the encore performance of The Great Gatsby in Columbus, on Saturday, Feb. 11, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They attended both the dinner and the performance. The Columbus Chamber of Commerce and the Fayette County Theater Group worked with us, along with a generous donor, to make the evening a memorable one for them. There was even someone to drive a few folks from their house and back to their house, as they cannot drive after dark. Thank you, everyone.

Senior Connections is currently open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Senior Connections is in Wolters Park in Schulenburg, right next to the Pavilion. The address is 1111 Bohlmann St. in Schulenburg.

The group plays dominoes and other social games, make plans for our future outings, visit with each other, share a communal meal, then have our informational speakers on Mondays and play some raucous Bingo on Wednesday, right after lunch, at 12 noon.

The centers phone number is (979) 743-3227, if you need more information.
