Senior Connections Preparing for Busy July
July is poised to be a very busy month at Senior Connections. Not only will we be open on Mondays and Wednesdays, with a meal provided, but Tuesdays and Thursdays will see some action too.

Or you can just stay tuned and read to the end of this article for the upcoming schedule of the week. The month is just starting out, so we want to let you know what is coming up.
The upcoming July 2023 Lunch & Learn Series line-up includes: Monday, July 10, Christi Stehling, from Crown Hospice in Victoria will come in to inform members on the services they provide. They are new to the community. Come find out what all they do and how they can be an asset to you.
Monday, July 17, the house will be a’rockin’ with the Fender Bender Band coming in to play some cool tunes for us. There will definitely be some toe-tapping going on, and maybe some dancing too, with Jake Mulholland and the boys.
Monday, July 24, will bring a local artist, Stephanie Shroyer, to tell about her work and how she uses her skills and talents to create wonderful art pieces that you will be amazed at. She is now conducting classes at the Twisted Steel Studio in Weimar.
Monday, July 31, will wind down the hot month of July with some more musicians in the house, as we host Mike Stroup. He will entertain us with all kinds of music as we sit back and enjoy.
Looking ahead, here is the calendar for the following week: Monday, July 10 at 9 a.m., enjoy hot coffee, good friends, dominoes, 42, Moon, newspapers, conversations, and fun. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. with the Lunch & Learn Speaker to follow.
Tuesday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the baking group will meet with Kathy Carpenter, lead volunteer, to bake some brownies so we can distribute to a law enforcement office this month. Come join the group and have some fun. This group will meet once a month to bake and plan for distribution.
Wednesday, July 12 at 9 a.m., enjoy hot coffee, good friends, dominoes, 42, Moon, newspapers, conversations, and fun. Lunch served at 11:30 a.m. with bingo to follow at 12 p.m. with ith Regency Home Health in Hallettsville.
Thursday, July 13, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., feather paint pour project at Twisted Steel in Weimar .
Friday, July 14 at 9 a.m., art projects at Senior Connections Center. A light lunch will be served at none.
Next week, the center is open every day of the week, with a little bit of something for everyone.
On Monday, July 17, the Fender Bender Band will provide some live entertainment as they play our old country favorites and throw in a little rock-n-roll for old times’ sake On Tuesday, July 18, the craft group will meet on Tues-day with Martha Beckmann, volunteer crafter, for simple craft projects that are fun, that keep our minds busy and our hands productive. By using our own photos, Martha can help you design a small project that becomes a legacy gift to a loved one. The personalization is what makes the difference.
Wednesday, July 19 is the special “Amanda Sponsored” meal treat, it is birthdays of the month for July, and we have four names up there already, and its Bingo. The center is still looking for one more bingo caller from our business community to come in and support the seniors Bingo games.
Towards the end of the month, Stephanie Shroyer, local artist will share her talents, and Mike Stroup, a local musician, will also be in to entertain us with his strumming guitar.
There will be an Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, July 25 and then an outing day to The Whistling Duck for an afternoon of pizza and dominoes.
