Senior Connections Offers Meals, Bingo and Art Classes

VIP bingo caller last month was Bill Wagner. Bill has been in this role for quite some time and members truly appreciate the time he gives.

At Senior Connections, we foster a vibrant community for seniors aged 55 and up, offering a free membership that opens the door to a world of fun, friendship, and enriching activities. Doors open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on each program day, welcoming members to join us for nutritious home-cooked meals, engaging games, and stimulating conversations.

Join on Monday, May 11, in Schulenburg at Wolters Park. Kick the day off with a rowdy game with friends until 11:15 a.m. when we start the announcements, Pledge of Allegiance, Prayer Concerns, and the blessing. Beef tips and rice, prepared by Connie Koopmann, are on the menu, along with a house salad with seasonal fruit, and garlic bread guaranteed to fill the room with a mouth-watering scent. Members are encouraged to bring desserts; add your name to the sign-up sheet on a convenient day.

The Lunch and Learn program at 12 p.m. will feature a Presentation by Joe Jimenez, Master Gardener, on Texas Superstar plants.

Following the program, join for a funfilled bingo session led by True Care Living from Columbus.

On Tuesday, May 12, find us in Newman Hall at Flatonia Methodist Church. Meal will include enchiladas, rice, beans, chips, and salsa from Jositos, with desserts from members.

Presentation at 12 p.m. will feature Kelly Holman from Hey Poppy Florist. Bingo starts at 12:30 p.m. led by Haley from Crown Hospice.

On Wednesday, May 13, Senior Connections is back in Schulenburg with Connie Koopmann’s famous chicken fried chicken with gravy, buttered noodles, and house salad. LaBrittany from True Care Living will be substituting for Chyla to call bingo.

On Friday, May 15, Artful Friday continues at Arts for Rural Texas, 1206 Lyons Ave. Thanks to a partnership with Arts, we offer two different month-long classes taught by experienced artist-instructors. This month, classes from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. include a Pen and Ink class with Jaime Janda and Eco-Printing with Steph Shroyer. A meal is enjoyed together after class.

Registration is required for these art classes. While many are already full with a waitlist, the following classes still have space available for sign-up. Call (979) 743-3227 to register.
