Senior Connections in Need of 4x4 Posts
Erin Wotipka from And Then was an awesome speaker this past week as she came in and informed our members about their mission and how they work amongst our community.
There were 31 attendees at our Wednesday, May 17, Bingo Day. We had a blast because it was the first of our “Bring a Friend” days. We had Sloppy Joes for lunch, we celebrated our May Birthdays of the Month, and then we rocked the house with our rousing Bingo Game. There were no May birthdays, but we had a birthday cake, courtesy of staff member Amanda Kridel, and we ate it anyway, after singing Happy Birthday to all May birthdays everywhere.
There were four new friends who came and they all said they would be coming back, too. One of the guests, Ms. Shirley, was the Shiner Blackout Bingo Game winner on their first day.
The next group outing with be on Monday afternoon, June 12. After the morning at the center, lunch together, and the speaker for the day, the group will be heading to the Schulenburg Historical Museum for a special tour. Everyone who wants to attend will drive their own car as we leave the center at 1 p.m. and meet up at the museum for the tour.
Senior Connections already has orders in for some Schulenburg Shorthorn and Weimar Wildcat garden poles. The Houston Astros garden pole is very popular too, so the new style will keep members busy for a while. If you would like to help with this garden pole production or if you would like to order one, just give us a call.
Members made an office size garden pole for Turtle Wing Foundation as a way of saying “thank you” to them for all their support and for helping with a recent project. Destiny Psencik, Turtle Wing Foundation Director, was so ecstatic and overjoyed, and right away commented on how unique a gift it is. If you have any 4x4 posts laying around, the center would ask that you let them know and someone will come pick them up to keep this project going. Call us at (979) 7433227 The upcoming Lunch and Learn Series speakers for the month of June 2023 will be: Monday, June 5, Schulenburg Chief of Police Troy Brenek will join for lunch and bring some up-to-date information regarding the Drug Take Back Program that his Department sponsors. He wants everyone to know that it is here, at the Police Station, and what it is there for, which is primarily to keep us all safe.
Monday, June 12, Christy Bohuslav from the Hometown Wellness Clinic will join us to tell members about this new service Paula Grahmann is providing to the community in Hallettsville. She will let members know what their focus is, how they serve the people who go there, and their plans for expansion.
