Senior Connections Holds Retirement Celebration For Cindy Villarreal
Looking back, the month of May kicked off with a bang. On May 1, Senior Connections celebrated the retirement of Cindy Villarreal. And what a party we had.
Surprises overwhelmed her through out the event. Her favorite flowers of yellow roses arrived from a secret admirer from a previous organization where she worked. Carrot cake with the Senior Connections logo embellishment fed many mouths, along with charcuterie boards loaded with meats, cheeses, fruits and so much more.
A plaque honoring her hard work and dedication was presented to her with a room full of her fans cheering Cindy on. A sparkling balloon arch created by creative volunteers created a perfect photo stage, and many shots were taken with board members, family who traveled far, and her faithful volunteers to name a few.
Two distinguished guests brought us to our roots, Kathy Quilan, one of the organizations founders, and Sherri Staha, the first volunteer, joined in on the fun. Another surprise brought many attendees to tears. Payton Mulholand, grandson of one of our regulars Betty, snuck in to serenade Cindy with her favorite songs played by his group the Fender Bender Band. Senior Connections is thankful to the community, business partners and members who stopped by to wish her well in her new beginning.
Believe it or not, all of this took place after regular games in the morning, a special lunch of chicken tenders from Edna’s Café, and bingo called by “Bubba” Mike Olle from Fayette Savings.
