Senior Connections Hires Director of Development
The Board of Directors and the staff at Senior Connections have arrived at a crucial decision. With the 2023 Strategic Plan in place now, we prioritized the needs of the organization and have hired a Director of Development. Amanda Kridel is an extremely versatile Marketing and Development professional. There will be a more formal announcement coming as Senior Connections launches new name of our organization, officially, and present Amanda to community by working with the Chamber of Commerce team.
Senior Connections was pleased to have Texas A&M University Center for Environmental and Rural Health in our Center in March. Mayra Rico, Program Coordinator, and Mercedes Duchicela, trainer, traveled from their home base in College Station and drove to Schulenburg to give members information on the current state of infectious disease.
This past week, Julie Clements and Cindy Villarreal called Bingo and Gloria Miksch was the Shiner Blackout winner. She won an Easter centerpiece with a $10 gift card to Whataburger. A special thank you to Marta Beckmann for providing some winning bingo prizes.
Senior Connections is planning to visit the George H. Bush Presidential Museum in College Station. The Schuber bus will depart from the Senior Connections parking lot at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 13.
The Friday program with ARTS-Schulenburg is ending, for now, as they are preparing for their summer Art Camps for children. The instructor will continue to provide lessons for members to work on at Senior Connections on Friday mornings and our Chef’s Choice Lunch can resume as well.
Senior Connections will now be providing a lunch meal on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Starting in April, Senior Connections will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, with a lunch meal served each day, at the Center in Wolter’s Park in Schulenburg.
The Center will also be open on Tuesday afternoons, from 1 to 4 p.m. for The Paint Shed program.
The upcoming Lunch & Learn Series speakers for Monday, April 10 is Dana Platt, CARTS Rural Transportation Board will come and provide a update on CARTS and how they operate. She is interested in listening why people use CARTS and why they don’t use CARTS, and is open to suggestions on how to make CARTS a reliable mode of transportation in our area.
