Senior Connections Brings Food, Fellowship, and Fun to Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia
For over 10 years, Senior Connections has been a beloved gathering place for active seniors, expanding into Weimar and Flatonia two years ago to expand our engagement with people 55 and up since transportation is a big challenge for some seniors.
Located conveniently along the I-10 corridor, members can find us at three welcoming locations: 1111 Bohlmann Ave. in Schulenburg, the First United Methodist Church at 301 W. Saint Charles St. in Weimar, and Flatonia Methodist Church, 403 East North Main in Flatonia. Doors are open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and we invite seniors to join our community with a free membership.
As members walk through our doors each morning, they are greeted with warm hugs and hot coffee, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. Our daily agenda revolves around a nutritious, home-cooked meal, fostering both nourishment and camaraderie.
While membership is free, a free-will donation box is available for those who choose to donate. Members are encouraged to bring desserts, and a sign-up sheet is available in the sign-up binder for those who wish to contribute. You will also find the sign-up sheets for our adventures here, as well as the Craigs-List, where volunteers can help you with “honey-do “ tasks around your home.
Our next Adventure will be to La Grange to see The Curious Savage, a comedy by the Fayette County Community Theater at the Sanford Schmidt Amphitheater on May 3. We are limited to 30 participants, so get your name on the list quickly. We will have lunch before the event, with the location to be decided soon. Do you have an idea for an adventure? Let me know, I’m always open to suggestions.

Senior Connections could not do what we do without our valued volunteers, so give them a big hug and a thank you next time you see them. They are raffling off tickets for a drawing for two lovely creations by Martha Beckmann. One, a patriotic wreath, and the other a patriotic cross arrangement, which will be timely for Memorial Day as well as the Fourth of July. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10, and the drawing will be held on May 13, with the winner announced on May 18. All volunteers have tickets, so if you would like to support their fundraising efforts for the New Building Fund, reach out to them.
At Senior Connections, we offer a diverse range of activities to engage our members, including Dominoes, Torok, Sequence, card games, coloring pages, crossword puzzles, and a variety of brain-stimulating fun activities.
