Senior Center Going to Blue Bell Creamery
The only thing better than hanging out and enjoying a movie in a cool theater is going to Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham. Seniors will be traveling for a tour on Thursday, Sept. 14 and will enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local diner.
There are a couple of new things going on the calendar for September and we need to see what the interest level is. “How It Used To Be” is a program where we want to start talking about our genealogy by telling one story. We would like to start with a particular decade, such as telling a story one remembers from when they were between 10 and 20 years of age, or from your childhood, your adolescent years, young adult, etc. We want to hear your stories, family stories, stories of the work done and how it was done, growing up in a big family, or being an only child, living without electricity, where did your food come from, those are the kind of stories we want to hear. We will start out slow, no pressure or worries, some will come to tell their story, and the others will come to listen to the stories. Please let us know if you would be interested in participating with a group like this.
Would you be thankful to have a voice recording of your beloved great-grandmother, or grandfather, or to have their story in a binder, just as they told it to a group of their friends, one fine day in 20232024 at Senior Connections? We anticipate some small groups, so will need several volunteers who would be willing to record the stories. This group will meet once a month, on the first Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to noon. This month, the gorup will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 5. If there is enough interest, a lunch meal can be provided. Hospitality is from 9 to 10 a.m. then everyone will get seated.
Call Cindy at (979) 7433227 if you are interested so we can get this ball rolling. Come grow with us and build a legacy to share with your family.
If you like to play Bunco, come help us get this group started. We know it is a fun and engaging game, and we want to introduce a different way of thinking and looking at things, by doing different things. Come play Bunco with us on the last Tuesday of the month. We will get started at 9 a.m. with hospitality, which is coffee or tea service, then be ready to play at 10 a.m. or once the tables are set up and ready.
Please check our 2023 monthly calendars on our website: www.srconnections. org for dates and times of the different activities.
