Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Feb. 25, at approximately 8:59 p.m. Deputy Herman Olvera was patrolling Interstate 10 and conducted a traffic stop resulting in the arrests of two subjects on felony charges.
Deputy Olvera observed the 2006 Ford pickup traveling eastbound and after observing the violation, the vehicle was pulled over near Schulenburg. The two male occupants were vey fidgety and made furtive movements a Olvera approached. Olvera became suspicious of the subjects and to promote officer safety, a frisk of the vehicle was conducted.
A check of the area in the immediate reach of the subjects revealed a .38 caliber handgun being discovered. A check on the revolver revealed it was reported stolen, and a further check on both subjects revealed each was a convicted felon and were prohibited from being in possession of a firearm.
Both subjects were then taken into custody. Deputy Olvera then noticed in plain view, two leather type vests identifying each as a member of an “Outlaw” motorcycle gang, one of which being the Vice President of the organization.
