Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Sept. 24-30.

Agency Assist

On Sept. 24, Sgt. Tobey McFadden responded to FM 2672 in reference to an offduty deputy requesting assistance for an active disturbance. Upon arrival the parties had left the location. Call cleared.

On Sept. 29, Officer Hailee Vincent assisted in the 600 block of W. I-10 for a major fatality accident.

Animal Complaint

On Sept. 28, Code Enforcement Officer Gina Harden received a call of a bird locked in the public restrooms at N. Main and Upton. A black crow was stuck in the women’s restroom. Officer used the catch net and got the bird out of the building safely.

On Sept. 29, Harden responded to the 65 block of N. Kessler to help catch a cat that had escaped.

Accident

On Sept. 24, Officer Byron Powe was dispatched to the 400 block of St. John Road where caller stated her vehicle was struck overnight while parked.

On Sept. 24, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for an accident, blue forms issued.

On Sept. 25, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for an accident involving two 18 wheelers.

Criminal Mischief

On Sept. 24, Powe responded to the 14 block of N. Kessler for customers that became upset and damaged property.

Civil Matter

On Sept. 30, Vincent responded to the 500 block of N. Main where complainant advised she put a reserve parking spot, and someone parked where she put the cone. Officer advised complainant this was public parking and nothing could be done about that. Complainant advised she was going to block the vehicle in, officer advised do not block the lane of travel. Officer advised her to work the issue out with the neighbor.

Criminal Trespass

On Sept. 27, Powe responded to the 200 block of College for juvenile suspects shoplifting. Officer issued four criminal trespass warnings and the parents of all four were contacted.

Disturbance

On Sept. 28, Officer James Whited responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler where caller advised when releasing an employee from employment the employee threw items at them. A criminal trespass warning was issued.

Forgery

On Sept. 27, Powe received a call from complaint advising they were scammed out of $20,000.

Fire

On Sept. 25, Krenek responded to the 600 block of I-10 westbound for a grass fire, the fire was caused by the vehicle. Officer provided courtesy escort for an adult male and female and toddler to the Pilot truck stop.

Harassment

On Sept. 24, Vincent responded to the 500 block of Herder for a harassment call. Complainant advised her divorce was finalized but was having issues with the ex-harassing her.

Loud Music

On Sept. 28, Krenek was dispatched to South at Wolters for loud music. Office met with a group of males who were playing music from a truck radio. Officer advised of complaint and they turned it down without incident.

Shots Fired

On Sept. 24, Krenek and Powe were dispatched to Kellett at Paulus in regard to shots heard. Officers met with individual that admitted to firing off fireworks. They were advised to stop.

Suspicious Vehicle

On Sept. 28, Whited responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a suspicious vehicle. Officer ran the plate and it came back not to be stolen and company was contacted and advised they would have to have it towed to a shop.

Traffic Stop

On Sept. 26, Vincent stopped a driver in the 700 block of Kessler for a defective head lamp. Driver had an expired driver’s license and was issued a citation.

On Sept. 27, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 41 in a 25. Driver received a citation.

On Sept. 27, Powe stopped a driver in the 1000 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 36 in a 25. Driver received a citation.

On Sept. 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 1000 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone 37 in a 25. Driver received a warning.

Traffic Hazard

On Sept. 28, Krenek while on patrol in the 700 block of N. Kessler, noticed a vehicle stopped and unoccupied blocking the roadway. Driver came running up and advised he ran out of fuel. Officer provided a courtesy transport to purchase a can and fuel, and returned to the vehicle and individual was able to drive off.

Welfare Check

On Sept. 28, Whited was flagged down by a citizen in the 1100 block of James Avenue in regard to an individual that fell down in the ditch. Officer located the male subject who advised he had back problems and wanted help to his vehicle. Individual looked ill and sweating but refused EMS. Officer assisted him to his vehicle and subject left.
