Schulenburg Police Respond to Fire, Disturbances During Holiday Week
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of June 28-July 4.
Animal Complaint
On June 30, Animal Control Code Enforcement Officer Gina Harden transported a found kitten in the 400 block of Kessler with a yucky eye to the animal shelter.
On July 4, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 500 block of Black Street for barking dogs. Officer did not hear any barking dogs.
Accident
On June 29, Officer Hailee Ellis worked an accident at the intersection of Summit and James. A citation was issued.
Agency Assist
On July 2, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 600 block of W. I-10 Exit ramp for an 18-wheeler trailer on fire. Upon arrival the driver had used the fire extinguisher on the rear brakes.
Civil Matter
On June 28, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 1500 block of Kessler for individual that had a horse at her home. She wants it removed since it belongs to her daughter.
On July 1, Castilleja was dispatched to the 500 block of College in reference to a civil matter.
Disturbance
On June 30, Powe was dispatched to the 1500 block of
Kellett for a disturbance.
Public Intoxication
On July 4, Powe responded to the 200 block of College for an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. An adult female was arrested.
Reckless Driver
On June 29, Castilleja was informed of a possible reckless driver at the I-10 exit into Kessler Avenue, officer spotted the 18-wheeler pulling into the Texan parking lot.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On June 28, Whited was dispatched to the 100 block of Cardinal regarding a male subject trying to open resident’s door. The subject was drunk and had gone to the wrong residence. Individual apologized to his neighbor.
On June 29, Ellis responded to the 400 block of S. Main regarding an individual saying they have a look alike selling drugs.
Traffic Stop
On June 28, Castilleja stopped an off-road vehicle in the 300 block of St. John Road for off highway vehicle operation. Individual was issued
sued
a warning and instructed him to take the off-road vehicle home. The Off-road vehicle was a black Can Am Defender.
On June 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 14 block of N. Kessler for an expired registration (9-25). Driver received a warning.
On June 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of Kessler for operating a vehicle with no license plate.
On July 4, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75. Driver received a warning.
On July 4, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 102 in a 75. Driver issued a citation.
On July 4, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 82 in a 75. Driver received a warning for speeding and expired registration (5-26) and a citation for no insurance.
Violation of City Ordinance
On July 4, Ellis was dispatched to the 1000 block of Paulus for a neighbor burning inside the city limits. Officer located the individual who was cooking barbecue for the holiday, and all was good. Officer informed the complainant that nothing was wrong.
Welfare Check
On July 3, Castilleja was dispatched to the Pilot in reference to a welfare check on an individual. Individual had pulled over to rest.
