Schulenburg Police Respond to Burglary, Dog Bite
Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 15-21.
Animal Complaint
On Oct. 16, Code Enforcement animal control Officer Gina Harden spoke with complainant in the 900 block of James Avenue in regard to a serious problem with stray cats.
On Oct. 19, Harden received a call-in regard to a dog running in the road on Babylon. Officer placed a lead on the dog to keep it from running away. Officer spoke with owner of dog and was advised the dog was up to date on shots, officer requested proof.
On Oct. 20, Harden noticed a loose dog in the 600 block of Wolf and owner was located. If this happens a third time, the dog would be placed in the pound and a citation issued. Harden helped the owner put up the dog and fixed the fence the best she could.
Agency Assist
On Oct. 16, Officer Juan Castilleja assisted medics in the 800 block of Wolf for a male subject that admitted to taking to many drugs. Individual refused to be taken to the hospital.
Burglary
On Oct. 20, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 500 block of Wolf for a vehicle broken into overnight.
Civil Matter
On Oct. 15, Officer Hailee Vincent took a report from complainant in regard to damage done to her fence in the 1300 block of Pierce. Vincent advised it was a civil matter.
Oct 20, Whited spoke with complainant in the 600 block of Upton where complainant advised she has been waiting at the police department since 6 p.m. for her ex to drop their two daughters off and he has not shown up.
On Oct. 20, Whited conducted a child custody standby in the 500 block of Herder.
On Oct. 20, Whited met with individual in the 14 block of N. Kessler for a child custody exchange, mother did not show up. Complainant wanted it documented.
Dog Bite
On Oct. 20, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 100 block of Schultz about a dog bite. Owner was playing with the dog a Lab Pitbull mix and it nipped his right finger but did not puncture the skin. Dog was up to date on shots.
Suspicious Vehicle
On Oct. 17, Whited was flagged down about a suspicious vehicle in the St. Rose Cemetery park. Officer located the vehicle after the driver eluded him because he had outstanding tickets.
On Oct. 21, Whited was dispatched to the 700 block of Lyons Avenue for a suspicious person attempting to open the front door of Wells Fargo. Officer made contact with the individual and he was looking for an ATM.
Traffic Stop
On Oct. 16, Castilleja stopped a driver for speeding in the 90 block of Kessler. A warning was issued.
On Oct. 17, Whited stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Kessler for going 73 in a 55. A verbal warning was issued due to computer printing issues.
On Oct. 17, Whited stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of N. Kessler for one head light not working. Still having printer issues a written warning was issued.
On Oct. 19, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. Going 33 in a 25 mph zone, a citation was issued.
On Oct. 20, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. I-10 for no front license plate. Driver received a warning for no front plate and no drivers’ license.
On Oct. 20, Powe stopped a driver in the 25 block of N. Kessler for no front plate. Driver received a warning.
On Oct. 21, Powe stopped a driver for expired registration in the 300 block of Kessler. Driver received a citation for driving while license invalid and a warning for expired registration and expired drivers license.
On Oct. 21, Powe stopped a driver in the 90 block of Schultz for disregarding a stop sign. Driver received a citation for running a stop sign and no insurance.
