Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Feb. 18-24.
Accident
On Feb. 23, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 300 block of Schwartz Blvd for a vehicle accident hit and run. The driver of the run-away truck was identified, and mother of driver was notified and she advised the driver was not a licensed driver. Insurance information was exchanged.
Animal Complaint
On Feb. 21, Officer Juan Castilleja along with Sgt. Roggenkamp were informed of a loose horse on James Avenue and Pierce Street. When officers arrived the owner of the horse was already present and had control of the horse.
Agency Assist
On Feb. 20, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 14-block of N. Kessler for a man having a heart attack and not responsive. Upon arrival the man was lying on the sidewalk and alert. EMS arrived a short time later and patient was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Illegal Burning
On Feb. 21, Castilleja was dispatched to the 900 block of James Avenue in reference to illegal burning. Officer contacted the resident and explained it was against the city ordinance to burn in the city, fire was put out.
Possession
On Feb. 20, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver arrested for possession of a controlled substance and tampering.
Traffic Stop
On Feb. 18, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver for a defective tail lamp in the 100 block of Kessler. Contacted the female driver who advised she only had a permit but did not have it with her. Driver had two juvenile female passengers with her. Officer asked if their parents knew where they were, and one advised she snuck out of the house to go to Whataburger with her friends. Officer contacted the parents and made them aware of the situation. The parents advised they were OK with the girls getting Whataburger and then go straight back to Flatonia. Officer issued a warning and that mom should talk to the girls about the importance of making sure their parents know where they are.
On Feb. 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for a defective tail lamp. Driver received a warning for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and defective tail lamps. Driver received a citation for no insurance.
On Feb. 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of North Street for an unregistered motor vehicle. Driver received warnings for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and expired driver’s license and one citation for no insurance.
On Feb. 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75. Driver received a citation.
On Feb. 19, Krenek stopped a driver at James and Summit for disregarding a stop sign. Driver was issued a warning.
On Feb. 19, Krenek stopped a driver in the 200 block of Kessler for a defective head lamp. Driver was issued citation for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility and a warning for the defective head lamp and expired registration.
On Feb. 20, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75.
On Feb. 20, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for a defective headlight. Driver received a warning for defective headlight and citations for no driver’s license and no insurance and unauthorized reproduction purchase use or sale of temporary tag.
On Feb. 23, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in the 800 block of S. Kessler for speeding.
On Feb. 23, Krenek stopped a driver in the 800 block of S. Kessler for a defective license plate light. Driver received a warning and a citation for no driver’s license.
On Feb. 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for no front license plate. Probable cause search conducted due to odor of marijuana and parapharnalia was located. Driver received a warning.
On Feb. 24, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 for going 91 in a 75. Driver received citations for speeding and driving while license suspended.
On Feb. 24, Krenek stopped a vehicle for a defective head lamp in the 300 bock of Kessler and upon approach to the vehicle officer smelled marijuana. The driver admitted to having a firearm in the vehicle under the passenger seat. Office retrieved the firearm and ran it for stolen and it was clear. Firearm was given back to driver and warning was issued.
On Feb. 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 14 block of Kessler for expired registration (12-23) Driver received a warning for expired registration and a citation for no insurance.
On Feb. 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 102 in a 75. Driver received a citation for speeding and one for no driver’s license.
On Feb. 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 94 in a 75. Driver received a citation for speeding.
Warrant Arrest
On Feb. 24, Powe arrested a subject that had an outstanding warrant in the 40 block of N. Kessler.
