Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Sept. 3-9.

Animal Complaint

On Sept. 3, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 100 block of Black for an animal complaint.

On Sept. 5, Code Enforcement and Animal Control Officer Gina Harden responded to the 100 block of Simpson for a stray dog in callers back yard that appeared thirsty and very skinny. Officer found the owner of the loose dog and advised if the dog were picked up for the third time, he would receive a citation. Owner advised he would fix the fence.

On Sept. 5, Harden responded to the 200 block of N. Upton for stray cats.

On Sept. 5, Harden received a complaint about a dog on a chain in the 200 block of Schult.

On Sept. 5, Harden received a call about a stray dog in the 1000 block of Upton. Officer located the dog and advised the animal shelter it was chipped, and they were going to locate the owner. Officer Harden placed the dog in the kennel.

On Sept. 7, Harden responded to the 1300 block of South about a loose dog knocking over garbage and tearing open garbage bags. Officer located the dog owner and advised that if he receives another complaint about the dog, he will be receiving a citation.

Civil Matter

Sept 4, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 1000 block of S. Kessler in regard to a civil matter.

On Sept. 8, Sgt. Tobey Mc-Fadden was dispatched to the police station in the 600 block of Upton to meet individual concerning child custody.

Disturbance

On Sept. 4, Officer Hailee Vincent and Officer MD Krenek were dispatched to the 40 block of Kessler for a disturbance.

Suspicion Person/ Vehicle

On Sept. 4, Krenek observed a suspicious white male walking southbound in the northbound lanes of traffic on N. Kessler. The subject was identified and given a courtesy ride to Flatonia.

Traffic Stop

On Sept. 4, Powe stopped a driver in the 900 block of Eilers for expired registration (6-22). Driver received a warning for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

On Sept. 4, Powe stopped a driver in the 1400 block of Lyons for failure to use a designated lane. Driver received a warning.

On Sept. 5, Powe stopped a driver for speeding going 40 in a 35. Driver received citations for speeding and expired registration (7-23).

On Sept. 8, Powe stopped a driver the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 35 in a 25 and using a wireless communication device in a school zone. Driver received a warning for expired registration (623) and citations for speeding and using a cell phone in a school zone.

Welfare Check

On Sept. 3, Castilleja was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a welfare check on an individual sleeping on the sidewalk. Individual was identified and was offered a ride to the next town and they refused.
