Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of June 4-10.
Animal Complaint
On June 7, Code Enforcement Animal Control Officer Gina Harden picked up a cat in the 700 block of Baumgarten that the property owner had trapped. Office Harden took cat to the animal shelter.
Accident
On June 8, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 600 block of Upton for an accident. Disturbance
On June 6, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 200 block of N. Main for a disturbance between a girlfriend and ex-boyfriend wanting to get his things. A criminal trespass warning was issued and individual left.
Dog Bite
On June 5, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 800 block of Wolf Street in reference to a dog that had gotten loose and bit someone. Upon arrival the victim advised he was weed-eating his rental property when he was bitten by the neighbors pitbull. Medics accessed the dog bite and wrapped it. Officer Castilleja contacted animal control officer Gina Harden for assistance. Harden spoke with the owner of the dog and advised about the requirements of a dangerous dog.
On June 5, Harden arrived at the 800 block of Wolf Street to speak with the owner of the pit bull that bit the man from the previous call. Harden wanted to see the shot records for the dog and the dog owner provided them, the dog is up to date on rabies shots.
Possession
On June 4, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver for speeding and no license plate lights in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10. Driver was arrested.
Road Hazard
On June 5, Castilleja responded to the 600 block of E. Interstate 10 in reference to debris in the road. Officer removed the debris.
Reckless Driving
On June 5, Castilleja was

informed of a reckless driver in the 70 block of N. Kessler. Officer located the vehicle and advised the driver who said she was not reckless. Officer advised when someone calls in, an officer makes contact.
Suspicious Vehicle
On June 7, Harden responded to the 500 block of Anderson about a suspicious vehicle parked in front of complainant’s house.
Traffic Hazard
On June 7, Powe responded to the 800 block of Kessler in regard to a trailer carrying hay bales that struck the overpass knocking 2 bales loose. TX Dot was notified and responded to clear the roadway.
On June 7, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the underpass for two busted round bale s of hay blocking lanes of traffic at the bottom of the underpass.
Traffic Stop
On June 4, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of Kessler for a defective brake light. Driver received a warning for the brake light and expired driver’s license.
On June 5, McFadden stopped a driver in the 25 block of N. Kessler for a defective tail lamp. Warning was issued.
On June 5, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Main for disregarding a stop sign. A warning was issued.
On June 7, Krenek stopped a vehicle for disregarding a stop light at Summit and Upton. Driver was issued a citation for disregarding a stop light and no driver’s license.
On June 7, Powe stopped a driver for no front license plate. Driver received a warning.
On June 7, Powe stopped a driver for failure to signal turn and failing to signal lane change in the 600 block of Upton. Driver received a warning.
On June 7, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Interstate 10 for defective headlight. Driver received a warning for headlight and citations for no driver’s license and unauthorized reproduction, purchase, use, or sale of temporary tags. Tag was seized, photographed, then destroyed.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10 Highway for expired registration (3-23) On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10 for obscured license plate. Search conducted and a usable amount of marijuana was located and destroyed by owner on scene. Driver received a warning for obscured license plate and citations for no insurance and driving with an invalid license.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Interstate 10 for no front license plate. Driver received citations for no insurance and unrestrained child.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10 for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver received citations for no driver’s license and no insurance.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Interstate 10 for speeding going 93 in a 75. Driver received a citation.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10 for speeding going 93 in a 75. Citation issued.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Interstate 10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Citation issued.
On June 8, Powe stopped a driver for speeding gong 88 in a 75 in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10. Consent to search conducted and marijuana located and destroyed on scene. Driver received a warning.
On June 9, Powe stopped a driver for speeding going 91 in a 75 in the 600 block of E. Interstate 10. Driver received a citation.
