Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 2-8.
Accident
Oct. 5, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 1200 block of Simpson for two vehicles that had backed into each other.
Animal Complaint
Oct. 4, Officer Gina Harden responded to the 700 block of Baumgarten where resident stated that someone’s pet chicken won’t quit following her and that the wings are clipped. Drove by the residence and could not find the chicken. Oct. 5, Harden received a call about a lost dog. Officer arrived and found caller holding a very matted dirty black Shihtzu. The dog had been wondering around the apartment complex. The dog had been neglected and owner of dog was advised to get the dog-updated on vaccinations and grooming by Oct. 10. Officer spoke to the owner about surrendering the dog, which she agreed, and the director at Gardenia Animal Shelter agreed to accept the dog and get it the help it needs.
Oct. 7, Officer M.D. Krenek was dispatched to the 200 block of St. John in regards to a dog bite victim. Officer on arrival met with numerous residents who advised someone was bit and that person ran and hid before law enforcement arrived. All subjects were uncooperative. Officer was unable to locate the bite victim. Officer Byron Powe advised residents were uncooperative with him as well.
Oct. 8, Krenek along with Sgt Tobey McFadden were dispatched to the 800 block of Summit in regards to three Husky’s running at large in the yard. McFadden knew whom the dogs belonged to and made contact so they could retrieve his dogs without incident. Oct. 8, Krenek was dispatched to the 500 block of College in regard to an injured deer lying in the middle of the practice field. Upon arrival officer was advised by dispatch that the deer got up and ran away. Oct. 4, McFadden received complaints about pit bull dogs coming from Wrights Park and attacking a horse on J.A. Green St. Officer advised owner of dogs to secure them.
Disturbance
Oct. 4, McFadden responded to the 300 block of Kessler for a disturbance over money.
Fire
Oct. 3, Krenek was dispatched to the 1100 block of James Avenue in regard to smoke in the area. Officer arrived and located the site of fire in a small burn barrel. Locating the resident was unsuccessful and the fire was extinguished.
Reckless Driving
Oct. 4, Krenek was dispatched to the 1800 block of W. Hwy.90 in regard to a Fed Ex truck having something thrown at his vehicle by another commercial vehicle driver.
Suspicious Person Oct. 3, Krenek along with McFadden was dispatched to the 10 block of East Avenue in regards to a suspicious subject and vehicle Officers made contact and subjects advised they worked for Purdue and were resting. Officers advised them to relocate to the Pilot parking lot.
Traffic Stop
Oct. 3, Officer Frank Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 39 in a 25.

Oct. 3, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle in the 40 block of N. Kessler for no front license plate. Driver received a warning.
Oct. 3, Powe stopped a vehicle for failure to signal required distance in the 800 block of Wolters. Driver received a citation for no insurance.
Oct. 3, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. I-10 for failure to maintain a single lane. Oct. 3, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10. Driver received a warning for speeding 86 in a 75.
Oct. 3, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding going 88 in a 75 in the 600 block of I-10. Driver received a citation for speeding and no driver’s license. Oct. 3, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of I-10 going 95 in a 75. Driver received citations for speeding and an unrestrained child. Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding going 91 in a 75 in the 600 block of W. I-10.
Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75.
Oct. 4, Krenek stopped a vehicle in the 25 block of N. Kessler for defective driver side tail lamp. Driver received a warning, Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 700 block of Kallus. Driver received a citation for expired registration and no insurance.
Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle for operating an unregistered vehicle in the 25 block of N. Kessler. Driver received a citation for no insurance.
Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle for driving on the wrong side of the road in the I-10 east bound frontage road. Driver received a citation for no drivers’ license. Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of East I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75. Driver arrested for possession of controlled substance. Oct. 4, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 going 91 in a 75. Oct. 5, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 going 80 in a 75. Driver and passenger arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Oct. 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding. Oct. 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 going 92 in a 75. Oct. 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle in the 600 block of E. I-10. Driver received citations for failure to move over and expired registration from 5-22. Oct. 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of I-10 going 87 in a 75. Driver received citations for speeding and expired registration. Oct. 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 going 86 in a 75. Driver received a citation for suspended drivers license and a warning for speeding. Oct. 8, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of N. Kessler for defective headlight and improperly displayed trip permit. Driver arrested.
Oct. 8, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. I-10 for defective headlight. Driver received a citation for no drivers’ license.
Oct. 8, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Driver received a citation. Oct. 8, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for expired registration. Driver arrested for possession.
Welfare Check
Oct. 3, Krenek was dispatched to the 700 block of Paulus in regards to a juvenile female making statements of harming herself to family and friends.
