Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of July 3-9.

Animal Complaint

On July 3, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 600 block of Upton in reference to an animal complaint in the 500 bock of Baumgarten. Officer contacted the owner of the loose dog and advised that if the dog charges another family he will be issued citation and the dog will be classified as a dangerous animal.

On July 5, Officer Jacob Mills was advised of a grey pit bull at large in the 1100 block of James. Officer patrolled the area but was unable to locate.

On July 5, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 300 block of August for dog barking. Officer parked at Kellet and Klesel and was able to hear the dogs barking for several minutes. Officer made contact with the owners of the dogs and advised them they need to keep the dog reasonably quiet and asked them to bring the dogs inside.

On July 6, Castilleja responded to the 1100 block of James to load a dog and took to the city pound. The owner was later located.

Criminal Trespass

On July 6, Kalina responded to the 500 block of Wolf St. in reference to group of juveniles ringing the doorbell and leaving the address. Officer checked the area but was unable to locate.

On July 3, Mills received a call from individuals on Herder Ave. that advised they heard screaming across the street. Officer made location in the 100 block of N. Main and located a couple that advised one of the individuals had been drinking and she was yelling at the world, but all was well and no disturbance.

On July 9, Kalina responded to the 1100 block of Bohlmann in regards to a fight at a family reunion in Wolters Park. Officer arrived on location and found a verbal altercation had occurred but those subjects left prior to officers’ arrival.

Suspicious Person

On July 5, Kalina responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler in regard to a Hispanic male getting out of the luggage compartment of the bus. Officer spoke to the driver who advised it was the other driver of the bus. Both drivers showed me the compartment it had a mattress and air conditioning. Officer found although it is unsafe it is legal.

On July 5, Kalina checked on a vehicle that had left the parking lot in the 89 block of N. Kessler. Officer recognized the driver as a dumpster diver and she looks for cans around town. Call cleared.

On July 6, Castilleja responded to the 500 block of Herder for an individual that is going through mailboxes. Officer located the subject on a bicycle and officer observed no evidence of mail theft. Complainant who advised after watching her security camera footage the individual was blowing his nose by her mailbox.

Traffic Stop

On July 3, Mills stopped a vehicle for running a red light in the eastbound frontage road of I-10. Citation was issued for running red light and for no drivers’ license. Passenger and owner of vehicle was issued a citation for permitting unlicensed person to drive.

On July 3, Mills stopped a vehicle for running a red light in the 40 block of Summit. Driver was issued a warning.

On July 3, Mills stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler.

On July 3, Mills stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of East Ave. Driver was issued a citation for going 51 in a 30 mph zone.

On July 3, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for a wrong, altered or obscured license plate. Driver received a citation for no drivers’ license when unlicensed and failing to maintain financial responsibility.

On July 6, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Kessler for an expired registration. Driver received a citation for no insurance.

On July 6, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Summit for an expired registration. Driver received a citation.

On July 6, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of Kessler for expired registration. Driver was issued a citation for no insurance and no drivers’ license.

On July 6, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of N. Kessler for expired registration. Driver received a citation for driving with suspended license and no insurance. Jail is not accepting Class B arrests.

On July 6, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of N. Kessler for expired temp tag. Driver received a citation or no drives license and no insurance. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

On July 6, Mills stopped a vehicle for running a stop sign at Lyons and Baumgaten. A citation was issued.

On July 7, Mills responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a disturbance at the Pilot gas station. Officer arrived on scene and spoke to two females.

On July 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 700 block of N. Kessler going 51 in a 40 mph zone. Driver received a citation for no insurance.

On July 7, Powe stopped a vehicle for operating an unregistered vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler. Driver received a citation for no insurance.
