Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following activities his department responded to during the week of June 13-18.
Aggravated Assault
On June 13, Officer Jacob Mills was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a man in an 18-wheeler who had pulled a gun on another man. Officer made contact with complainant who advised he asked a man parked in front of him to move so he could leave the truck stop. The two-exchanged words and the other man pulled a pistol and pointed it at complainant. When complainant called police the driver left. The complainant did not want to press charges and advised to just let it go.
Assault
On June 16, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 1000 block of Summit for an assault family violence investigation.
Animal Complaint
On June 15, Kalina responded to the 100 block of E. Paulus for an injured Hawk. Game warden officials were called and arrangements were made to get the Hawk to an individual that rescues birds out of Bastrop.
On June 18, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 100 block of Schultz in reference to a small dog in the yard and officer took dog to the city pound. The owner of the dog made contact with the police department and they were united.
On June 17, Mills responded to the 200 block of Matula to check on a dog that may need water and food. Officer attempted to talk with the owner and no answer at the door. Sgt. Tobey McFadden was able to make contact with the owner later in the day.
Civil Matter
On June 15, Kalina took a report from individual who advised his ex-wife did not show up with the children at the designated time. Officer would document this event.
Disturbance
On June 12, Kalina responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of St. John Rd.
On June 14, Mills responded to the 1000 block of Anderson for a disturbance between a male and female. Officer arrived and allowed female to gather kids and things to leave, no physical contact reported.
On June 16, Kalina responded to the 700 block of Klesel. Officer spoke with parties involved and determined it was civil and no offense was committed at this time.
On June 18, Castilleja was dispatched to the 500 block of Summit in reference to a verbal disturbance between a male and the staff at the restaurant.
Reckless Driver
On June 17, Mills was advised by multiple callers of a vehicle on I-10 eastbound that was failing to maintain a single lane.
Suspicious Vehicle
On June 15, Kalina observed a vehicle double-parked facing traffic with no lights in the 500 block of Baumgarten. Officer found the driver only had a learner’s permit. Drivers sister was called and the vehicle owner. Officer explained the driver with the permit had to have someone over 21 with a driver’s license with her. Both individuals were issued warnings for the violations.
Theft
On June 15, Kalina was dispatched to the 300 block of Schwartz Blvd. where complainant advised her vehicle was stolen from the sports complex. While in route officer was advised individual had found her vehicle.
On June 17, Mills responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a male running out of the Pilot with 12 packs of alcohol.
Traffic Stop
On June 13, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 93 in a 75 mph zone.
On June 13, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of W. I-10 for no license plate light. Driver received citations for no driver’s license and operating a vehicle with fictitious license plate.
On June 13, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10. Driver was going 95 in a 75-mph. zone.
On June 13, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Kessler for an expired registration. Driver received a warning for driving without a license and a citation for no insurance.
On June 14, Mills stopped a Tesla in the 14 block of N. Kessler for operating a vehicle with no front license plate. Driver received a warning.
On June 14, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for a fake temporary plate. Driver received a citation for no drivers’ license and no insurance.
On June 14, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of N. Kessler for a fake license plate. Driver received a citation for unrestrained child.
On June 14, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Baumgarten for failure to signal required distance. A probable cause search was conducted due to the odor of marijuana. Driver was released with a warning.
On June 14, Mills stopped a vehicle for defective break light. Drive received a citation for no drivers’ license and failure to maintain financial responsibility and warning for break light.
On June 14, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Simpson for running a stop sign. Driver gave consent to search vehicle and during the search officer observed marijuana under passenger seat. Driver received citation for failure to maintain responsibility. Received warning for running stop sign.
On June 17, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Kessler for running a red light. Driver issued a citation.
On June 17, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Summit for defective stop lamps. Citation was issued for no drivers’ license and expired registration and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
On June 17, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for failure to signal lane change. Driver received a warning.
On June 17, Mills stopped a vehicle for speeding going 66 in a 45 mph zone in the 200 block of Summit. Citation was issued.
On June 17, Mills stopped a white Ford pickup for operating a vehicle without license plate in the 300 block of Kessler. Driver advised Chuck Brown forgot to put temporary tags on. Driver released with warning.
On June 17, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Lyons for not having front license plate when required. Driver received a warning.
On June 18, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Summit for expired registration. Driver received a citation.
On June 18, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Summit for a vehicle that failed to drive in a single lane. Individual was issued a verbal warning.
On June 18, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. Driver received a verbal warning.
On June 18, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for running a red light. Driver issued a citation.
On June 18, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of Kessler for expired registration. Driver received a citation.
On June 18, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for expired registration. Driver received a citation for expired registration and wrong license plate. Driver admitted to having placed the license plate of another vehicle onto his current one due to the expired registration.
