Schulenburg Police Continue to Tackle Speeding
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Nov. 27 through Dec. 3.
Agency Assist
On Nov. 28, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler where an 18-wheeler parked at the Pilot truck stop was leaking hazardous material from a container on the bed of the truck. Schulenburg VFD assessed the leak and contained it.
Accident
On Nov. 29, Officer M.D. Krenek responded to a minor two-vehicle accident in the 40 block of N. Kessler in the Whataburger parking lot. Both parties exchanged information and blue forms were issued.
Animal Complaint
On Nov. 28, Krenek was dispatched to the 1500 block of Kessler in regard to barking dogs. Owner of the dogs advised the dogs were in a kennel in the rear of the property and he would attempt to quiet them.
On Nov. 29, Krenek responded to the 1500 block of Kessler for barking dogs. Upon arrival officer met with the dog owner and advised of the previous complaint and he advised they are trying to solve the issue. Dog owner advised the cats in the neighborhood keep the dogs barking and he has purchased a bark collar.
On Nov. 30, Officer Gina Harden responded to the 1300 bock of Piece about a dead calf. Upon arrival officer found the dead calf in a small pen under the carport. The owner was informed that the carcass would need to be moved. If they do not move it, the City warehouse will pickup and dispose of and charge her for the service.
On Dec. 1, Harden responded to the 100 block of Meadow Creek for a trapped raccoon. Officer picked up the animal and released it safely in the country outside of city limits.
On Dec. 2, Harden responded to the 38 block of East Ave. for a loose Blue Heeler dog following people at the Apothecary. Upon arrival officer found the dog had been caught by a bystander and it had tags and owner information. Owner notified and came and picked up their dog.
Disturbance
On Dec. 3, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 1100 block of Summit for an intoxicated man breaking some of his things around the house.
Suspicious Person
On Dec. 2, Parkinson responded to the 900 block of Simpson where caller advised a man was trying to sell her window services and she did not open the door. He left a flyer and then parked down the street.
Traffic Stop
On Nov. 27, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding driving 50 in a 35 mph zone. A citation for speeding was issued and a warning for failure to report change of address.
On Nov. 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for going 90 in a 75 mph zone. Driver issued a citation.
On Nov. 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for gong 86 in a 75 mph zone. Driver received a citation for expired registration (5-22).
On Nov. 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for an expired registration (9-22) Driver received citations for expired registration and expired drivers license (8-13-2017).
On Nov. 28, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for going 36 in a 25-school zone.
On Nov. 28, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for going 44 in a 25-school zone.
On Nov. 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for no license plates. A small amount of marijuana was located and disposed of on scene. Drivers received a citation for no license plate lights.
On Nov. 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for expired registration (722). Officer searched and found multiple containers of alcohol. Driver received citations for expired registration and no driver license.
On Nov. 28, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for going 40 in a 25 mph school zone and for no drivers’ license.
On Nov. 28, Parkinson issued a citation to driver for running the stop sign at James and Summit.
On Nov. 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for failure to dim headlights when meeting. A search was conducted and an open container of alcohol located and disposed of. Driver received a citation for no drivers’ license. Passenger and registered owner received a citation for allowing unlicensed person to operate vehicle.
On Nov. 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 1400 block of Kessler for failing to stay in a single lane. Consent to search and a small amount of marijuana was located and disposed of on scene. Juvenile passengers parents were contacted and the juvenile returned home. Driver received a warning.
On Nov. 29, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 going 92 n a 75.
On Nov. 29, Krenek stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for defective tail lamps. Driver issued a citation for failure to provide insurance and a warning for defective tail lamps.
On Nov. 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for defective tail lamp. Search conducted due to marijuana in plain sight. Additional marijuana located and disposed of on scene. Driver received citation for defective taillight.
On Nov. 30, Powe stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for expired registration (9-22). Driver received a citation.
On Dec. 2, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for going 37 in a 25 mph school zone.
On Dec. 2, Parkinson stopped a driver in the 100 bock of Kessler for going 36 in a 25 mph school zone. Citations were issued for speeding in a school zone and no drivers’ license.
On Dec. 2, Powe stopped a driver in the 400 block of Summit for expired registration (921) Driver received warnings for registration and expired drivers license and citation for no insurance.
