Schulenburg ISD To Interview Construction Managers This Week for $19.6 Million Bond Work
Schulenburg ISD Superintendent Dr. Julie Motomura provided a preliminary construction timeline for the bond projects that voters approved last November.
District voters approved $19.6 million in funding for two construction projects: 1) a $12.29 million performing arts that will include fine arts classrooms, a band hall, stage with audience seating, weight room, offices, and boys and girls dressing rooms; and 2) a $7.3 million package for improvements to the athletic facilities including a new track, football stadium bleachers, restrooms, field house improvements, and concession stand, along with perimeter security fencing for the entire district.
According to the preliminary timeline, construction bids for the performing arts center will go out in September of this year. Counstruction could begin as soon as this fall and last approximately 18 months, with completion anticipated in the spring of 2026.
Bids for the projects associated with the football stadium will go out in May of this year, but construction will have to wait until the end of the year, once the football season ends. Construction in those projects is anticipated to last eight to nine months and finish in time for the 2025 football season.
The board of trustees were set to interview applicants for Construction Manager this Monday, Feb. 5. Motomura said the district will provide additional updates after that person is hired.
