Scary Incident, But Driver Safe

ALaGrangewomanescaped serious injury in a crash at the bridge on Warda Blacktop Rd. Sunday Oct. 30. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Seth Nagel investigated the crash. Nagel’s report saidAllene Becker Schramm, 66. of La Grange was driving east on Warda Blacktop Rd. in a black 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The report said the driver was distracted inside the vehicle. The Jeep veered off the roadway to the right, struck a wooden fence and guardrail and went off the bridge across the Pin Oak Branch of Rabbs Creek. The Jeep came to rest facing east near Pin Oak Branch. Schramm was not injured and she was wearing a seat belt according to the report. Pct. 1 Commissioner Jason McBroom said the crash destroyed the guardrail on the bridge. The bridge was scheduled for replacement next year. McBroom said his crews will install a temporary guardrail to make the bridge safe until its replacement.
