San Marcos Man Arrested For Drug Possession
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Saturday, March 25, around 12:15 a.m. Deputy Austin Moore was traveling northbound on St. Hwy. 77 near Swiss Alp when he observed a white Ford Expedition traveling northbound failing to maintain a single lane of traffic.
Moore conducted a traffic stop and upon contact with the driver, Moore detected the odor of marijuana. Moore also observed a whiskey bottle on the front floorboard of the vehicle.
The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle and a white powdery substance was observed over the drivers seat area. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and the white powdery substance field-tested positive for cocaine.
Deputy Holly Smith arrived and assisted Moore at the scene. Arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center was 27-yearold Travis William Banneyer of San Marcos, charged with Possession of a controlled substance and tampering fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair.
