Salary Differences Holding Up the LG City Manager Hire
Negotiations continue between the City of La Grange and David Harris, the lone finalist for the vacant City Manager position.
The City Council selected Harris as the lone finalist for the job at a meeting on Dec. 5. The City initially offered him a starting salary of $130,000 annually. Harris made a counteroffer, which the Council considered during an executive session this Monday, Dec. 12. Council did not accept the counteroffer. However, they instructed City staff to continue negotiations with Harris.
“We’re trying to find some common ground,” interim City Manager Frank Menefee told the Record on Tuesday morning. “Hopefully we can get this worked out.”
The Council set a pay range of $130,000 to $175,000 for the position back in October when they began reviewing applicants.
