Sacred Heart Altar Society Meets in April
The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday April 1, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard financial reports. Two thank you cards were read to members in appreciation for remembrances received. Fourteen ladies attended the meeting.
The Spirituality Chair Marian Tajchman spoke to members about the new season of the Church celebrating the 50 days leading up to Pentecost Sunday and the coming of the Holy Spirit. During these 50 days, we celebrate the Great Resurrection of Jesus Christ and His ascension into heaven on Ascension Sunday, signifying the completion of His time on earth. Marian also reminded members of Divine Mercy Sunday on April 7 Church Preparation Co-Chair Earline Trlicek thanked everyone who assisted in any way with the many tasks involved in getting everything in place for the Holy Week and Easter celebrations. She also read a note of thanks from Father Brian expressing his appreciation to all who helped. Judy Langhamer gave a report on the flowers used on the altar and throughout the church for Easter. She thanked the ladies who helped with the setup of the flowers. It was reported that Peggy Sulik and member volunteers continue to care for the vestments and altar cloths as needed.
Under the Service Commission, Earline Trlicek reported on the donations made to the Clerical Endowment Fund for the previous month. Karen reported on a Get-Well card sent by Emma to a member during the previous month. Barbara Schellberg gave her report on CEF enrollments sent to a member for an over 90 birthday and to two members in memory of their deceased loved ones during the month of March. Judy reported that one funeral lunch had been served during the previous month which was catered by the family and presented the financial report for the Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Under the Leadership Commission, Trish Pechal reported that one new member had been approved by Father Brian since the last meeting. The Rural Life Mass will be held this summer at St. Mary’s in Taylor.
Under unfinished business, Karen thanked those members who assisted in leading the Stations of the Cross on March 15 and to all members who attended as a group. Discussion was held about the Convention to be held in April. A vote was taken to contribute toward the charitable cause of the Convention.
Under new business members discussed a birthday gift for Father Brian for his April birthday. A discussion was also held about a suggestion that had been received regarding the purchase of a cordless vacuum for church cleaning. Members voted to make the purchase.
Having no further business to discuss, attendance prizes were drawn and distributed. President Karen Janda led the members in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned.
