RT-C 4-H, FFA Launch Presley’s Power Donation Drive

The RT-C 4-H and RT-C FFA are holding a service project to support Presley’s Power, a charity that supports kids and families battling cancer. The community is being asked to please donate items.

Items can be dropped off at either the Round Top Elementary School or the Carmine High School during school hours on Monday, March 23-Thursday, March 26. (There will be no school March 27.)

Items needed are Pop tarts, cereal bars, juice boxes (no red drinks), hot chocolate mix, chips, snack mixes, crackers, cookies, popcorn, mac-ncheese, coloring books, and throw blankets. Individually packaged food items are preferred.

C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation will hold a C.A.S.T. for Kids event on May 9 at Camp Journey in Bellville. This will be a free fishing event for children and adults with special needs. The event is open to all children and adults, ages 6 and up, no matter their disability. Participants must pre-register online at https://castforkids.org/ event/campjourney/.

The space is limited to the first 40 children and adults who register. The C.A.S.T. (“Catch A Special Thrill”) for Kids Foundation enriches the lives of children with special needs, supports their families, and strengthens communities through the sport of fishing. They empower families and communities to celebrate children with special needs, making these children feel valued and loved. Through a joyful day of fishing, kids, their families, and community volunteers come together for an explosion of fun and inspiration.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation hosts annual fishing and boating events across America to provide children with special needs a quality outdoor recreational experience. The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is in its 35th year of celebrating children with special needs by providing free boating and fishing events for them to enjoy the outdoors.

In 2026, the Foundation will hold over 100 events.

You can view a complete National schedule at www. castforkids.org. At each event, participants receive a free fishing pole, tackle box, event t-shirt, cap, award plaque, and lunch. A morning of fishing will be followed by a picnic lunch for all and awards ceremony for the participants.

Stacie is a Round Top area resident, a recreational therapist, and this is her second year to serve as the event coordinator for this wonderful event. Volunteers are needed for May 9 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Any commitment of time will be appreciated.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Animal Shelter Supply Drive 

The Fayette County Texas Exes will be hosting a supply drive during the month of March to support Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter.

Needed supplies are bleach, window cleaner, disinfectant wipes, latex gloves, 409/Lysol disinfectant cleaner, paper towels, 35-gallon trash bags, 55-gallon heavy duty (2mil) trash bags, puppy pads, copy paper, Post-it notes, dry erase markers, and Sharpie markers.

Donations can be dropped off at Round Top Real Estate in Round Top.

Round Top-Carmine ISD 

On Tuesday, March 24, the RT-C Baseball boys will travel to Mumford for a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.

There will be a Jr. High track meet in Fayetteville on March 23, and a High School track meet, also in Fayetteville, on March 26.

March 23 will be an early release day. Buses run at 12:30. March 27 will be a professional development day which is a student holiday.

Fundraiser at The Compound 

A fundraiser benefitting “Virginia’s Song Foundation” will be held at The Compound in Round Top on March 21, from 1-4 p.m. There will be music, food, drinks, and a wide array of children’s activities. Tickets can be purchased at givebutter.com. Adult tickets are $50 and tickets for children under 18 are $30. Shakespeare at Winedale Dr. David Huenlich will share his research on the more than 30 African Americans in Texas who spoke German in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, revealing unexpected intersections between German American and African American communities during a March 24 Lunch & Learn at noon via Zoom. A “Texas Master Naturalist Nature Tour” will be held in Winedale on Saturday, March 28, at 10 a.m. This will be a guided look at Winedale’s frontier landscape. The Lewis- Wagner House will be open for tours afterward. This is a free event and no registration is required.

American Legion, Auxiliary The April 2026 meeting of the American Legion has been rescheduled from April 2 to April 9 in reverence of Maundy Thursday. The meeting will take place at 1503 N. St. Hwy. 237 in Round Top beginning at 6:30 p.m. All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Burton, La Grange and Giddings area are encouraged to join Post #338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.

Town of Round Top 

The public is invited to attend the Candidate Forum for the upcoming Town of Round Top Alderman election. Three candidates are running for two vacant aldermen positions. The three candidates are David Barr, Brooke Michie, Lou Ann Phillips. The forum will be held at the Round Top Christian Church, 440 E. Mill St. in Round Top, on April 18 at 2 p.m. The alderman candidates will have an opportunity to state their platform and to answer questions by citizens.

Animal Shelter “Mutt Gala” The highly anticipated Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter Vanity Fur “Mutt Gala” will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 6-10 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. Event tickets and sponsorship tables can now be purchased at ams.s3onegoal. com.

Round Top Family Library Registration for RTFL’s Summer Camps aka Kids S.E.E. will open Tuesday, March 31, starting at 10 a.m. Offerings of classes include animal science, arts and literacy, arts and crafts, cooking, creative writing, gardening, life skills, science club and theater. The line up of classes, times, and ages is available at www.ilovetoread.org under Children’s Programs.

A Classic Car Show benefiting RTFL at Busted Oaks Cellars will be held on April 11 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a lottery tree, gun auction, silent auction and a live dessert auction. The event is free and open to the public. Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and come out to support an amazing cause while admiring some stunning cars.

Open Mic Poetry Night at Round Top Family Library will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m. with a reception to follow. The event is open for poets of all ages to read one of their own poems. Mark your calendar for “Run for the Roses” — a Derby Day special dinner hosted by Red Antler on Saturday, May 2 at the beautiful James Cabana at the Red Antler. Red Antler is generously hosting an elegant five-course wine pairing dinner, catered by Royer’s and paired with Caymus Vineyard wines. Guests will also enjoy a special cocktail crafted with Blade and Bow fine whiskey, adding another memorable touch. Tickets are $200 per person, and all proceeds benefit Round Top Family Library. RTFL’s Annual Gala will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 at The Windy Knoll. Amy Bone and Pam Langford have agreed to co-chair the annual gala and they, along with a team of dedicated volunteers, are already busy planning an unforgettable evening. Stay tuned for more details.

Round Top Festival Hill

Do Your Duty Round Top DYD Round Top is holding a raffle to raise funds for two scholarships they will be awarding to two graduating seniors from RT-C. The drawing will take place on April 9. The raffle will have 16 prizes valued at $5,500. Raffle ticket prices are 1 for $20 or 3 for $50. Tickets can be purchased at the Round Top Mercantile, Round Top State Bank (La-Grange, Giddings & Round Top branches), or from any DYD member.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church has kicked off their annual church raffle with 36 prizes. The drawing will be held on May 3 at their annual chicken fry. Ticket prices are $20 each or 3 for $50. Raffle tickets can be purchased at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Round Top State Bank, Carmine State Bank, Round Top Mercantile, or from any BLC church member.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church will hold Sunday worship service with communion on March 22 at 9:30 a.m. A mid-week Lenten meal will be served on Wednesday, March 25 at 6 p.m. with a Lenten worship service following at 7 p.m. The Lenten meal and service are a joint event with partner churches Carmine, Waldeck, Round Top, and Shelby. Pastor John David Nedbalek will be leading both services. Visitors are always welcome.
