The annual fish fry will be held at the Rifle Hall Friday, March 3. Stay tuned for more information.

The next Round Top Rifle Hall Monday Night Hamburger Social it set for March 6. The social takes place the first thru third Mondays of each month. The Hall opens at 5:30 p.m., and the order window is open from 6-8 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

Local Events

Tyler Tillman will provide the music during this quarter’s Wine Club pick up! Catch him from 3-6 p.m.

Cross Roads Band will take the stage at The Stone Cellar Friday, Feb. 24 beginning at 7 p.m. Midnight wranglers perform Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. Next weekend, enjoy The Black Cat Trio Friday and the full band Saturday evening.

Round Top-Carmine ISD Round Top-Carmine High School band students who participated in the UIL Solo and ensemble.

A public hearing on performance reports will be Monday, Feb. 27 from 6-6:30 p.m. at RT-C Elementary School, followed by the monthly Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The annual RT-C Alumni Baseball Game is set for Saturday, March 4. If you are interested in participating in the game text (979) 702-0502 for more information.

This year’s Spring Break is right around the corner. Students are out Monday, March 13-Friday, March 17.

Round Top Family Library

The Round Top Family Library is open Monday from 1:30-5:30 p.m., Tuesday– Thursday from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Yoga is Mondays at 5 p.m., Art After School is Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m., Chess Club is Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. and Kids Garden is Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Weekly preschool storytime for 3 and 4-year-old children takes places Wednesdays from 10:15-11 a.m. Preschoolers will hear an age-appropriate book and participate in activities. The parent or guardian must be present.

The Original Round Top Book Club, Book Keepers and Bookworms present “Author! Author!” on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. Award-winning author, Babette Fraser Hale, will discuss her collection of short stories and how fiction stories can rise out of real experiences. Her stories, A Wall of Bright Dead Feathers, are available locally in and around Round Top. Refreshments will be served.

RTFL and FYI are pleased to announce that local dancer Libby Lovejoy is donating part of her treasured collection of dance books to the library. All are welcome to join in a reception on Sunday, March 5 at 2 p.m. to meet Libby who will present her books and answer questions. Refreshments will be served.

Historical Society

The Round Top Area Historical Society Museum has free admission every second Saturday of the month from 1-4 p.m. Take the opportunity to view three historical homes and a historical church. Private tours are welcome.

Festival Hill

James Dick, Founder and Artistic Director of Round Top Festival Institute will perform on the Festival Concert Hall State Saturday, March 11 at 3 p.m. The performance will include works by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. Adult tickets are $40, students are $10. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Winedale Historic Site

Winedale’s annual quilt exhibit “Places and Names: Community-made Quilts in the Winedale Quilt Collection” will open on Friday, Feb. 24. The hours and days are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.4 p.m., and Sunday 12-4 p.m. Friday Mar. 3 and Saturday, Mar. 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 12-4 p.m. This display highlights the collective work of quilt guilds, family and friend networks, communities of shared interests, culture, or place, and quilting groups that commune regularly or once in a lifetime. St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. The next Mass will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 8 a.m. This will serve as the Mass for March. View the bulletin online at stjohnfayetteville.com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. Game Day is held the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Bring a snack, board game, dominoes, etc. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. Noisy Offering is the third Sunday of each month.

The Wednesday Lenten services will alternate between St. Paul in Shelby and BLC. A meal is served at 6 p.m. and the service begins at 7 p.m. Services begin Wednesday, Mar. 1 at St. Paul. Mar. 8 will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.

Saturday, March 4 is the first Round Top Singer/Songwriter Showcase. This outdoor concert features three extraordinary singer/songwriters from Louisiana and Texas. The event begins at 5:45 p.m.

Sunday, March 5 Saint Cecilia’s celebrates the birthday of Townes Van Zandt. Beginning at 10:45 a.m. there will be an inspiring hour of worship and song. Bring a friend and a chair for this outdoor celebration. Stick around to enjoy coffee, refreshments and conversation.
