Round Top-Carmine Participates in District Track
Sports Physicals by Texas A&M Mobile Health Clinic will be given on May 4.
RT-C High School boys and girls participated in the District 29A track meet held at Runge.
Results for the boys are: discus, Hunter Schobel, first and Kannyn Goehring, fourth; and shot put, Kannyn Goehring, second.
Results for the girls are: high jump, Kennedy Flinn, first; long jump, Egypt Woods, third; triple jump, Tess Eilers, third, Somerlin Coil, fourth, and Jill Eilers, fifth; 800 run, Bayley Pitts, fourth; 1600 run, Avery Nelius, first and Maggie Salinas, second; 3200 run, Avery Nelius, second, Maggie Salinas, third, and Kinsley Bage, fifth; 100 dash, Egypt Woods, third; 200 dash, Jill Eilers, fifth; and 400 run, Kennedy Flinn, first.
Athletes placing first through fourth places for boys and girls advance to regional, which will be held April 29 at Jourdanton.
Bus drivers for RT-C were recognized and thanked on April 25. The faithful drivers are Harvey Albers, Randy Beck, Tiffani Brooks, Gerald Byrket, and Blake Goehring.
Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All State team includes four basketball players from RT-C. They are Kannyn Goehring and Leonardo Navarrete, first team; Jacob Polasek, second team; and Hunter Schobel, honorable mention.
The following FFA members participated in the District SDE and Convention: Agribusiness speaking, Kaitlin Bradford, first; Animal science speaking, Emma Baird, second, and Avery Nelius, third; Ag policy speaking, Emme Dallmeyer, first; and Horizon district reporter, Jenna Hardaway. All speakers advance to Area.
Condolences
Sympathy is extended to the family of Clyde Muske, who passed away on April 8. He was born at Winedale, southeast of Carmine. He graduated from Burton High School in 1952, served in the US Army, and was an accountant for Texas Transport & Terminal, Jim Doyle Steel Company (which became Chromalloy Corp.), and Jake’s Finer Foods. His funeral service was held April 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Houston.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is May 11 at 7 p.m. Volunteers and interested persons are always welcome to attend.
The Firemen’s Feast will be held the third Sunday in July.
Decoration Services
Carmine Cemetery will have their Decoration/Memorial Service on May 21 at 2 p.m. in the pavilion at the cemetery.
La Bahia Cemetery Decoration service is scheduled for May 28 at 2 p.m.
Pastor Tinker is charge of all three services.
Bingo for Seniors
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be Sunday, May 14 at the Ledbetter Community Center. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks, and drinks are available for a freewill donation. This is a non-profit community event for entertainment.
Waldeck Annual Picnic The Waldeck Annual Picnic and meal will be held Sunday, May 21 at Waldeck Lutheran Church. There will be a BBQ pork steak meal served from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per plate and a drawing will also be held with the price at $20 per ticket or 3 for $50. Tickets are available at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church office in Carmine and Carmine State Bank.
Memorial Day Ceremony The Carmine EDC is sponsoring a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Carmine City Park on Monday, May 29 from 9-10 a.m. The roster of our deceased veterans will be read. Light refreshments will be served following the playing of “Taps.” You may want to bring a lawn chair.

Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (please separate the no. 1 and no. 2), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
