Round Top-Carmine Class of 1963 Reunites

Round Top-Carmine High School JV and varsity volleyball teams will host Brazos Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.

Jr. High A and B teams play at Burton Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. Varsity team won consolation in the gold bracket at the Navasota Tournament on Aug. 13; while the JV team were champions in the silver bracket. JV and varsity both defeated North Zulch in 3 sets on Aug. 16.

Carmine VFD Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is the second Thursday in September at 7 p.m. The burn ban continues to be in effect for Fayette County. Most areas are still very dry. We are thankful for the rain we have received. A reminder to have your house numbers placed where they are visible from the road both during the day and night. This makes for better response time.

Heritage Committee to Meet The Heritage Committee of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce will meet Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. in the museum. “Remembering Recreation, Amusement, and Fun” will be the topic for discussion.

Old timers in the area and new comers alike are invited to join the group.

MLLC News Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. Sunday School is Sunday at

9 a.m. Labor Day Sunday worship with Holy Communion observing the thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The service will be held in the Fellowship Hall with a meal to follow. Pulled pork sandwiches with pickles, onions, and sauce will be provided. The congregation is asked to bring a complimentary side dish or dessert. Remember to wear your “work clothes.” The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor. Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Recycling Trailer The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m. Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Birthdays August birthday wishes are extended to Rene’ Runge, Neil Weigelt, and Bradley Wunderlich- 30; Ervin Viertel and Gladys Torn-31; September birthdays: Anita Drydale and Kim Lewis-3; and Maggie Hinze-4.
