La Grange Police broke up a burglary in progress at the T-Mobile Store on the west side of town Sunday morning.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports that Officers Mitchell Maxwell and Jeff Archard discovered the burglary while patrolling the west end of town around 4:18 a.m. on Sunday, March 26. While passing the store, Gilbreath said, the officers noticed a plate glass window broken out of the storefront and a black passenger car parked in front of the store.

The officers turned around. The black car fled the scene as officers pulled into the shopping center. The officers followed the vehicle and pulled it over on State Highway 71. The vehicle, a 2013 Mercedes C250, was driven by 24-year-old Tavares Reece of Houston. There were two female passengers, 26-year-old Shaqueria Dubose of Houston and a 16-year-old juvenile from Houston.

Officers placed all three into custody for burglary of a building. The officers transported Reece and Dubose to the Fayette County Jail. The juvenile was released to her parents a short time later.

Gilbreath said the suspects used a hammer to break the window. He said the suspects did not take any merchandise. Gilbreath said he believed the suspects saw the police car drive by soon after they broke out the window. Gilbreath said they did not have enough time to take anything before police caught them.
