Residents Briefly Evacuated in Warda Area

Residents in the Warda area of Fayette County were briefly asked to evacuate their residences Monday evening, March 4.

According to Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller a natural gas leak occurred around 7 p.m. in the area of Giese Lane in Warda. Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator, Angela Hahn, along with Dawn Moore, 9-1-1 GIS and Addressing Coordinator, EMS Director Josh Vandever, Winchester Fire Chief Eddie Schneider, and Sheriff Keith Korenek, all worked together to apprise as many residents as possible of the hypothetical dangers. Residents in about a half mile of the gas leak were asked to be on alert.

Work crews from the gas company quickly responded to the scene and repairs on the gas leak were completed without incident.
