Fish Fry

The Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund fish fry will be held Friday, March 20 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall, drive-thru only. The meal includes fried fish, buttered potatoes, pinto beans, hush puppies and coleslaw. Plates are $15 on a first come, first served basis. All funds benefit the Hostyn/ Plum Scholarship Fund. This will be the last Lenten Fish Fry.

Food Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 21 from 10-11 a.m. Drive through only.

LHS Class Reunion

There’s more New Life Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden, is excited to announce a community Archery program for children and youth of all skill levels. Adults welcome on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., for a free archery fun day. Everything you need including all necessary safety gear will be provided. Adult volunteers are certified instructors, trained under the USA Archery curriculum, so you can expect clear, expert guidance. Brenham Chorale Spring Concert

The Brenham Chorale announces its spring concert, being performed on Monday, March 23 at 7 p.m, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham. The performance will feature Faure’s “Requiem,” and the choir will be accompanied by harp, organ, and string orchestra. The concert is open to the public and free of charge,with a reception following.The Brenham Chorale is an outstanding 30-member community choir, now in its 15th year, under the direction of Dr. Joanne Clark.

FWS Corporation Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting an annual meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

RT-Shelby Hermann Sons Life Meeting

The Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Tuesday, March 24, at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post 338, 1503 N. Hwy. 237, Round Top. A social time will begin at 6 p.m., the meeting is at 6:30 p.m. with a meal following. Please note the new meeting date going forward is the fourth Tuesday of the month with the exception of the month of December, when we will continue to meet on the second Sunday of December for the annual Christmas party. Winedale Lunch & Learn

Dr. David Huenlich will share his research on the more than thirty African Americans in Texas who spoke German in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, revealing unexpected intersections between German American and African American communities during a March 24 Lunch & Learn at noon via Zoom. La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day 

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, March 26 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. La Grange Garden Club

The La Grange Garden Club will hold it’s regular monthly meeting, Thursday, March 26 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with social and program at 12 noon at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 Pearl St. in La Grange. The topic will be constructing and maintaining a successful terrarium presented by Daniel Lewis. This presentation is open to the public. Join every fourth Thursday of the month for an interesting and informative program.

Plant Propagation at Preserve

The Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas and the Coastal Prairie Conservancy Indiangrass Preserve are hosting a hands-on native plant progagation activity March 28, 9 a.m. - noon at the Indiangrass Preserve greenhouse near Waller. You will learn how to start plants from seeds, plugs, and cuttings; where to obtain seeds;when to start seeds and when to plant; and best dates for planting native grasses based on weather records. Cost is $15. All materials will be provided, but you can also bring native prairie seeds to share. You will plant seeds in starter trays, which you can take home for your own prairie plantings, or leave to contribute to the Indiangrass Preserve. Bring your lunch, enjoy the beauty of the prairie preserve, and take some time to stroll along the marked prairie trails after class. KC BBQ Sunday

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host their KC BBQ Sunday, March 29. BBQ chicken and sausage to-go (drive-thru) will be available from 10:30 a.m.noon at the KC Community Center located at 190 Brown St. in La Grange. A slab of pork ribs is $20, chicken is $12 and sausage is $7. Orders are guaranteed on call-ins by calling (979) 968-5117.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are at the Schulenburg Expo Center 1003 Kallus St. The Hope Group meets on Sundays at 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. These are open meetings, all are welcome. Non-alcoholics are welcomed as observers only. For more information go to cbiaa.org or austinaa.org.
